A Hundred Fireflies | Firefly Road, Siquijor Island, Philippines
While the every star in the galaxy was present, fireflies started to appear and glowed like Christmas lights. They were flying around a eucalyptus tree. There were hundreds of them glowing! I’ve never seen so many fireflies in my life!
It was hard to capture them. This was one lucky shot out of the numbers of clicks I did that night.
The owner of Villa Marmarine, Mr. Harada, named that road Firefly Road. In fact, Siquijor is called “Isla del Fuego” or “Island of Fire” because of the fireflies that reside in the island. Fireflies nestles in Molave trees and Eucalyptus trees in the forest.

BLOGGED: The Mystical Island of Siquijor: An Overview

The original plan was this: tour the southern part of Cebu and the island of Bohol. We successfully did the former but failed to accomplish the latter due to some unfavorable events. Because of it, Robbie and I decided to come up with an alternative plan. Good thing was, we met RV and helped us with our predicament.

We did not really expect that we would invade the mystical island of Siquijor the following day!

A Pause | Paliton Beach, Siquijor Island, Philippines
A boatman pause for a moment to watch the sun go down in Paliton Beach. The sunset in this place is the best I’ve seen in the country.

On Top of The Island | Siquijor Island, Philippines
I wish I could translate the exact same amazing view that I saw when I was standing on that observatory deck. It was nothing like I’ve ever seen before. It was the whole of the island! I saw the beaches that I went to. I saw the roads that I passed. My eyes couldn’t help it. I teared up while I was turning around to see the whole of the island. Holymothernature, you are amazing. The Philippines is amazing!
This is taken atop the observatory tower in Mt. Bandilaan Nature Park. The island on the left side is Dumaguete. And the island far across in the middle is Bohol/Cebu.
